Pieces of Us...

Let me tell you about a little incident that happened last night. I was so pissed I could explode! I don't know why I lost my cool. I'm not normally like that, but for some reason yesterday I just lost it.

We were having some bad weather here around lunchtime yesterday. There was some very light snow and a bit of freezing rain. They didn't cancel school or anything, but it was a little messy out. No big deal. So around 3:30 I called Skyler's dance studio and asked them if they were still planning on having dance class. She said that class was still on. So no problem. By that time it had actually stopped raining and everything was fine.

So I leave work early and head to pick Skyler up at school. I pick her up and we rush home to get changed for dance class. We then proceed to drive the 15 miles to dance class. We left a little early in the off chance that the roads might be a little yucky. It was 5:00 and everyone was getting off work, so the roads were very busy. It takes us approximately 40 minutes to get to dance class because its all the way on the other side of town and its at 6:00 p.m. with all of the afternoon traffic. I work, so I can't take her to dance class in the mornings and they don't offer them on Saturdays. Well not for her age group anyway.

So we arrive at dance class at about 5:40 p.m. and the little group that is before her is in the dance studio doing their thing. We sit there and wait and all of the little girl's for Skyler's class shows up. (Well 6 out of 8 anyway). So they little the other group out and I send Skyler into the dance studio with her little tap shoes and ballet shoes. Well the teacher comes out and says that all dance classes after 6:00 has been cancelled. I'm like, "Uh, no they aren't. I called and asked at 3:30 and they said everything would go on as scheduled." Now mind you, the weather hasn't worsened since 3:30 or anything. It had actually gotten a bit warmer, but it was getting night time. And she says, "No, classes are cancelled." And I say, "NO they aren't! I called to check!." All of the little girls are standing there with their parents and are ready for dance class. Well the teacher could tell I was pretty much getting pissed and she said throws up her hands and said "Well they made the decision to cancel all classes after 6:00 p.m." Well when the hell did they make that decision? And if they did, why didn't they bother to call the students and let them know! I was so pissed off I couldn't see straight. I mean the entire class was there, the weather was fine, they had already told me that they WERE having class, we had driven 20 miles, it had taken us 40 minutes to get there, we had sat out in the waiting room waiting our turn for 20 minutes.... You get the picture.

I was so pissed I could have slapped the dance teacher. I don't really like the girl to begin with. I think she is rude and not very nice. I don't plan on sending Skyler to ballet there again next year. We are definitely going to try and find another location. But its like once you get started and Skyler has a good time, you can't really pull them out. I mean she isn't learning any "ballet" at all. I mean I guess you can't teach ballet very much to a 3 year old, but it basically looks like they just go in there and dance to kid's music and run around acting silly.

I know, I'm just bitching. But it really ticked me off. I stomped out to the car and called the dance studio and left a nasty little message on their answering machine. I told them I didn't think that was a very professional way to run a business to tell someone that you would be open and then close without calling to let your customers know. It would have been different if the weather had changed or something, but it hadn't.

Well let me get off my soapbox on that one. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I guess we all have our bad days every once in awhile.

I am counting down the days until the cruise! It's T-Minus 13 days and counting! Well until we leave for New Orleans anyway. I hope the weather is great and we come back all bronzed and refreshed. Two whole weeks away from the kids! I'm not going to know how to deal with that one.

It will probably take me a month to get Skyler straightened back out after that long at mamaw and papaw's. They spoil her rotten and she comes back meaner than a snake whenever she goes to visit them for any amount of time. I really wish my parents would come and stay with them at our house in NC. That way Skyler could stay in school, sleep in her own bed, go to dance and gymnastics, etc. But my stepdad doesn't like being away from home. My mom actually enjoys getting away from home, but my stepdad is a "homebody."

Super Baby!!

Well sorry today's post is so short. Until tomorrow...
